Children's Portraits
by the artist with the curiosity of a child

Catch that smile!
Having a personal artwork potraying the individuality and character of your little loved ones can be of tremendous value. When painted, the moments in time that otherwise disappear forever, are not only documented, but will revive these memories in the one who loves them most.
Artistic life
Hilma Bovenkerk is a dedicated freelance artist creating unique portraits in diverse and oftentimes mixed materials like graffiti, acrylic paint and bees wax. Her latest work is a portrait of one of her favorite reggae singers, not painted, but shaved out of a goat skin, soon to be exhibited!
Hilma doesn't simply paint on any canvas, she explores different bearing mediums to also convey the thought of the work even stronger. Another way of getting deeper under the skin of the person portrayed.
After her study at the Art Academy of Rotterdam in The Netherlands, she also got a qualification as an Art Teacher at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg.
A renowned creative workshop coach in Holland, she combines teaching drawing and painting with commissions for murals and art work. Through her Artschool Helmond and ArtConnect.co she has offered her artistic solutions to businesses, groups and individuals for over 12 years.
At this point in time though, she is fully focusing on her works. While at the same time putting her expertise in writing by offering e-books, home-studio-kits and tutorials in book form to the wider public.

Murals
Hilma likes to work BIG. Many times a too big self created 'wall' broke under the heavy loads of cement before it could be transported. So a real stretch of empty wall .. is my favorite canvas!
Walls are often overlooked as a potential advertising agent that works for you around the clock. Whether it's your company brand or products, or an intriguing artwork, an empty wall can be a missed chance.

About Hilma
As an artist I am driven by a fascination with the nuances in facial expression, capturing those moments that give us a glimpse of one's inner world. Influenced by both contemporary and historical movements, my work reflects a dialogue between abstraction and realism, allowing for a multifaceted understanding of the human condition.
The materials I use serve to emphasize the emotional weight of each piece, stripping away distractions to focus on the essence of the subject. What follows is a mix of not only of the choice of the media, but a voluntary quest into new and undiscovered use of it in combination.
